Do you promote your website on social media? Has it worked out for you or is it a waste of time?

No, I stay away from social media generally, though I have tried in the past, to no avail.

But I do get quite a few new members who have seen links to my fourm.

I’m not against social media as a promotion tool, in the correct ways. Spamming and such is obviously morally wrong, but having useful content and sharing that, seems fine to me.

I haven’t had any luck with it as of yet though!

I tried few times, 0 success, now I just autopost my content on Twitter with DragonByte add-on.

Not yet, social media has a different user base that hardly cares about forums. I feel that it's a waste of time, time which can be invested better by buying advertisements on forums of which you think could draw in members.

Unless you target reddit. Users there could essentially make the step over. Especially if we have "groups" available to us.

I have promoted my sites on Facebook as well as Twitter. I've also promoted a one on Mastodon, a alternative to Twitter. I never get any new members this way though, I do get traffic from their bots though. I should use reddit again, I've used it before too but again I didn't get any new members.

I haven't really tried to. I suppose paid ads on social media would be effective.
