Sharing content on Twitter

Has anybody had any luck sharing content on Twitter..?

I find it can be great at driving traffic, but the retention rate and user conversion is appalling.

Maybe just the wrong audience?

I suppose it all depends on the hashtags you use on the posts. It's tricky bringing new users from there.

We want to draw in audience from social media but hardly anyone there is interested in typical forum discussions. The majority has a scroll attention span of 2 seconds per post. So yes, you're targeting the wrong audience.

I think you can Google the best hashtags for Tweeter regarding your niche.
... and yes, most of the people will stay for few seconds or just read the content and leave without registering or login to the page.

This is pretty normal. Try not to worry about registrations too much at this point. Just aim for traffic and getting those page views up by producing insightful content in your niche. Ask yourself is what you’ve written worth reading? Will it help the reader in any way? And will they want to come back after they’ve read it?

Probably not if it’s just a discussion thread. But if it’s a listicle (Google this if you don’t know it means) then it might help that person, it might want them to come back to read more useful listicles. I’ve always found that listicles generate more traffic over time.

I also wouldn’t worry too much if you’re not getting traffic from social media. Just make sure you register your brand on all the major social media platforms and add a link to your website. Keep posting useful content about your website on it. This will help Google understand that your website is legit and that it’s actively getting content.
